The Edit Dividend form is where you can edit dividends for a share that is already in your portfolio.

Note: Once you edit an automatic dividend it will lose its status as an automatic dividend. This means that it will no longer automatically adjust itself if you alter historic purchase or sale information.

Date Enter the date that the dividend was paid to you. You can do this by clicking in the date box and entering the date in the format displayed in the box or by clicking the icon to the right of the date box and using the calendar. If using the calendar select the year and month before the day. The dividend paid date is used to determine whether dividends are included in the taxable income report for a given time period.

Ex Date (optional) Enter the ex date (action date) for the dividend. You can do this by clicking in the date box and entering the date in the format displayed in the box or by clicking the icon to the right of the date box and using the calendar. If using the calendar select the year and month before the day. It is the number of shares held on the ex date that determines the dividend amount that is paid to you. The ex date is used to determine whether dividends are included in the dividend return for a given time period. If no ex date is recorded, the paid date is also used as the ex date.

Dividend received This is the dividend amount that you actually received from the company.

Non-Resident Withholding Tax This field is shown for overseas shares only. If any non-resident withholding tax was deducted enter it here.

Imputation Credits Enter any Imputation credits attached to the dividend.

Resident Withholding tax
Enter any resident withholding tax that has been deducted before you received the dividend payment.

Exchange rate This field is shown for overseas shares only. Type the exchange rate that you received when you banked the dividend.

Non-Taxable Select the tick box to mark the dividend as non-taxable. This means that the dividend will no longer appear in the NZ or AU taxable income reports. This feature can be used to record non-taxable capital returns and other types of non-taxable payouts such as PIE dividends.

Dividend Reinvested Select the tick box to record a Dividend Reinvestment

Comments (optional) Use the comments field to record any extra information about the dividend.

Reject this dividend button This button is shown if you are editing an automatic dividend (indicated by the magic wand icon). Rejecting the dividend means that Sharesight will no longer show a dividend for the particular dividend payment event in Sharesight’s database.

Delete this dividend button This button is shown if you are editing a manual dividend, and will delete the dividend from your records.
