The Add a New Share form is where you add shares to your portfolio.
Note: To record a new share into your portfolio, enter the details of the first purchase trade that you made. Once the share has been added to your portfolio you can then enter additional purchase and sale transactions or make any necessary adjustments to the shareholding.
Market Select the appropriate stock exchange from the drop down list. If the share you wish to enter is not on one of the supported markets, select the ‘other’ market and select the ‘Add new?’ checkbox to create a new holding. Shares that you create on the ‘other market’ will be classed as an Unquoted Instrument and you will be responsible for adding share prices, as well as dividend and other company events manually.
Share Name or Code Start typing the name or share code, and select the appropriate entry from the drop down box.
Date of Purchase Next enter date that you first purchased shares in the company. You can do this by clicking in the date box and entering the date in the format displayed in the box or by clicking the icon to the right of the date box and using the calendar. If using the calendar select the year and month before the day.
Number of Shares Enter the number of shares you initially purchased.
Share Price Sharesight will indicate the closing price on the purchase date, click on this figure to use the suggested price or type your own price into the box.
Exchange Rate (only displayed for overseas shares) Sharesight will indicate the closing exchange rate on the purchase date, click on this figure to use the suggested rate or type your own exchange rate into the box.
Brokerage (optional) Enter any brokerage you paid
Comments (optional) Use the comments field to record any extra information about the share purchase. This could include the reason you bought the shares or any particular circumstances about the purchase.
Finally click ‘Save’ or ‘Save and add another’ if you have more shares to add.
